Buy worms 2 armageddon12/29/2023 ![]() Unfortunately this version lacks fire weapons, probably for technical limitations and you cannot create schemes, something really bad. I really aprecciate the PS1 version for making training missions much less strict (like 1 minute less) and not having autosave, so you dont waste unnecesary time with the campaign and the deathmatch mode. This really makes the game artifficialy longer, and for unlocking everything you have to obtain gold medals in every level. Also, to get gold medals in campaign you have to beat a mission in the first try (if you do more attempts and later you beat the mission the counter resets). And the difficult curve is all over the place. They can take way too long and the game demands you flawless runs with specific strategies, even in the first missions. The level design both in training mode and in the campaign is sadistic. Using grenades and bazookas from long distances can be also very hard, and this wouldnt be a negative point if the game doesnt expect you to make perfect shots so many times in the campaign. Not only the worm sometimes cant reach certain elements of the enviroment, but also, since the level itself is like a cookie that leaves crumbs, sometimes you will see bazookas and homing missiles crashing magically in the air. First of all, the controls and collision detection. ![]() There are a few flaws that shamefully ruins the game for me. Is this game perfect? No, not by a long shot. This things along makes Worms Armageddon arguably not only what worms should be, but also it gives its unique core esence to it, its unique charm, and a manual to make strategic games fun. For me the highlight of the game was creating and customizing teams, custom matches, maps and schemes, the game is just designed around that. The arsenal was also greatly expanded, with a LOT of new weapons, that gives the game tons of creativity and strategy. Although i didnt like it that the jumping itself is a bit more clunky, but it still gets the job done. The physics were way smooth and is easier to predict how the weapons fall. Talking about the gameplay itself, it was a nice upgrade over the original Worms. Even in its inferior console ports, the core gameplay is intact. If you're a worms veteran, the game offers more of the same, but the new layer on top may bring a strong level of refreshment to your worms experience.Worms Armageddon is one of those classic games that you shouldnt miss. If you haven’t played worms before, this is a good place to start. ![]() There are some puzzle-like missions, but not enough: I expected more cool puzzle-style missions like those from Worms World Party- for example, shooting mines out of a boat, or something new and innovative, rather than the generic kill all enemy worms with normal weapons. Many of the missions are a typical death-match style game where you simply kill the enemy worms like you normally would in other game modes. In addition, the campaign for me, was disappointing. Sometimes they are downright stupid and will miss an easy shot or shoot themselves with a bazooka by aiming down, and at other times they are able to throw a grenade across the whole map and have it hit you perfectly, resulting in the full 45 damage. For starters, the AI seems to be very inconsistent. The game however does have some drawbacks. And of course, there is still multiplayer, where you can play other people across the world. One new interesting mode is Body Count where you try to get as many points as possible by killing enemy worms that constantly respawn. Modes such as quick game, training and campaign still exist. Some new weapons (like termites and magnets) are cool, there are some minor graphical overhauls, and the game has a little more personality (such as worms screaming when dynamite is placed next to them). ![]() Worms Reloaded is a pretty solid game with some subtle improvements, but don't expect a drastically different experience to earlier 2D Worms games.
